For over three decades, Rice Fergus Miller has committed our practice to performing meaningful projects – ones that build and strengthen community.
This year, we’re reallocating the money we would normally spend on client gifts to organizations that are making a difference in the communities where we live and work. We’re calling it ‘Gifts for Good’ and we’re inviting you to help us decide how to allocate our funds! Learn more about the four causes we’ve selected.

The Code Green Campaign
The Code Green Campaign® is a first responder oriented mental health advocacy and education organization. Also known as Code Green, we serve all types of first responders. This includes firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, police, corrections, air medical, and search & rescue. Our name is a combination of the color for mental health awareness (green) and the “code alerts” used in emergency services.
Kitsap Strong
Kitsap Strong is a network of leaders working together to build resilience in our community. The common agenda of Kitsap Strong member agencies is “Improving the well-being and educational attainment of Kitsap residents, through a focus on empowerment and equity, the prevention of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), and the building of resilience”. They are the backbone agency working to create an environment in our community where agencies are supported and rewarded for collaboration and innovation.
SMART Reading
The intention of SMART Reading is to positively impact literacy outcomes by providing early reading support, access to books and community engagement in an equitable and inclusive environment for everyone involved. In the Portland Metro Area, the Children’s Book Bank at SMART Reading further supports our work to ensure children have access to high-quality, diverse books at home by providing kids from birth to 8th grade with bundles of books to keep.
WA Indian Gaming Association Scholarship Fund
Since 2008, the Washington Indian Gaming Association (WIGA) Scholarship Program has awarded more than $1 million to Native American and Alaska Native students pursuing bachelor’s and graduate college or university degrees, as well as degrees from community and technical colleges. These awards promote tribal self-sufficiency by advancing student potential and broadening higher education opportunities.
